Julie Stubbs, Otter Project Officer, BBOWT making out the site for the otter holt. 6 September 2001.
Volunteers weighing up the problem.
We had never built an otter holt.
Volunteers hard at work building the holt from local timber.
We used a fallen tree for two of the walls and built the other walls and the `rooms' from willow on the site.
Putting a roof on the holt.
In the absence of suitable roofing material on site, we used marine ply covered with polythene.
The completed otter holt. Invisible?
The holt was covered with brushwood from the site and this was wired down to prevent it being washed away in floods. We do not want people or dogs to visit the holt. Anyone interested can see plans and further pictures.
