Improving Access for the Public in the Meadows

Mowing footpaths and chipping brushwood
Thanks to a generous grant from The New Horizons Trust, the trustees were able to purchase a Countax C600H garden tractor with a 42" grass-cutting deck, a chipper attachment and a trailer. Mowing footpaths has been very popular with the public and has deterred them from wandering into the grazing and wildflower areas. Chipping the brushwood from pollarding has allowed us to forbid bonfires and produce chippings to mulch trees and make muddy footpaths safer. |

Provision of kissing gate
This was installed by volunteers in April 2000 and allows easy access for children's buggies, wheelchairs and anglers' trolleys. The Parish Council made a grant towards the cost of materials (English oak). No motor vehicles are allowed on the meadow, except for agricultural and maintenance work. |
